Poker player Daniel Shak and his now-ex-wife, fellow poker player Beth Shak, purchased apartment #14A at 1049 Fifth Avenue for $7.2 million in 2005. Mr. Shak held onto the place in the divorce (with a $3.25M payment to his wife), but he decided to sell at the beginning of this year. He insisted that the condo sale wasn't related to his $7 million+ loss in the gold market, but the numbers do add up. And now, as the Observer notes, Shak has made back those losses: the apartment has sold for $7.4 million. We hereby plan to hire Daniel Shak for all future investments and real estate transactions.
